How to Keep Warm this Winter?
Besides buying an efficient heating solution from us, here are some tips on how to keep warm this winter during the coldest months in Cyprus. Seven easy steps that make a difference.
1. Dress in Layers
Itâs common knowledge that having a couple (few) layers of clothing can help you feel âwarmerâ. Wear long underwear (loungewear), sweaters, and even hats indoors to avoid the cost of living crisis that is now here. Using hot water bottles and single electric blankets on your sofa helps you stay warm affordably.
2. Keep your feet warm
Socks are our best friends; they help your entire body feel warmer even with the thermostat turned down lower.
3. Heat your bed
Donât heat the entire house – heat your bed instead. Use an electric blanket on low or a hot water bottle. Do this before you go to bed, so itâs all nice and toasty.Â
4. Harness the Sun
During the day, open the shutters or curtains on the south-facing windows and let in the sun. You can easily get a few extra hours of FREE sunlight warmth.
5. Block and Seal Drafts
If you live in an older or less well-insulated home, consider using draft stoppers on outside doors. Remembering that heat rises – how inefficient is your home when you think about where you spend most of your time? If you only go upstairs to sleep, think about stopping escaping heat from the lounge.
6. Stay Active!
Time to start moving. The human body is a remarkable furnace. Staying active without âsweatingâ can help to maintain body heat throughout the day. And you donât have to do much. Just sweeping, cleaning, and cooking – all easy things to do to make a difference.
7. Humidify your Home
Weâve read countless articles about de-humidifying your home. A humidifier wonât increase the temperature, yet, it may make it feel slightly warmer. Water vapour from the humidifier slightly increases the ability of the air to hold heat.
